Taba
Taba, Argentina's 1975 Champion Two-Year-Old Filly, has died at Our Mims Retirement Haven. She was discovered by the farm's owner, Jeanne Mirabito, in one of the paddocks Friday afternoon.

Taba was the dam of 1986 Champion Older Male Turkoman and the great grand dam of 2001 Horse of the Year Point Given. The daughter of Table Play and full sister to Argentine Triple Crown winner Telescopio, Taba won the Polla de Potrancas (Arg-G1) (Argentine One Thousand Guineas) in 1976.

OMRH acquired the mare from Olin Gentry's farm in November of last year. Burial arrangments at the moment are pending. Mr. Gentry had requested that Taba be returned to his farm after her death. Jeanne has a call in to him now.

Taba was 32.

Ponies Darla & Peggy Sue
Darla & Peggy Sue

In June of 2006, an old pony and her middle aged daughter arrived at OMRH. Peggy and Darla were known as "the little ladies." These two lovely little ones charmed us with their wit and tenaciousness.

As happens with old horses, their time ran out. Because of various physical problems, the decision was made to euthanize the two ponies. And since Darla and Peggy were separated only very briefly in their lives, it was determined that the two ladies be put down at the same time, so neither pony would know a moment without the other.

On August 1, 2008, the two ponies were released from their pain. They are buried together (together in death, as they were in life) in the OMRH cemetery.
